School Excursion Programs 2016

mlhm excursions122016 is shaping up to be an exciting year for schools visiting the museum.  Of course, the  World War I Centenaries continue, and we have the 50th Anniversary of Long Tan.


School Programs on offer this year are:

Commemorations Program: Year 3

  • Aligns with curriculum theme: Community & Remembrance
  • Hands-on interactions for students,
  • Live horseback tent-pegging demonstrations,
  • Flag-raising ceremony with blank-cartridge firing-party,
  • Unit plan and class room resources for pre and post activities provided,
  • Program was awarded a National Trust Qld Silver Community Award 2013,
  • Cost per student: $10 for Museum visit (excluding transport).

Telling the ANZAC story: Year 9 

  • Aligns with curriculum theme: World War 1,
  • Based on History in Place program created by History Teachers Association of Victoria, Culture Victoria and Heritage Victoria,
  • Students use iPads to create their first hand digital story about the WWI ANZACs,
  • Aligns to the Premier’s ANZAC Awards,
  • Includes live horseback tent-pegging demonstration and flag raising with blank-cartridge firing-party,
  • Cost per student: $10 for Museum visit (excluding transport).

World War 2 and Modern Day Conflicts: Year 10

A new education program for 2016 linking Year 10 history curriculum (pending funding), to assist students to explore WW2 and modern day conflicts.   $10 per sudent
