Who we are

Come discover the  story of  Australia’s Light Horsemen and the Mudgeeraba Light Horse Museum Inc.  Discover its collections,  the state heritage Schmidt Farmhouse – and on special days experience the excitement of tent pegging!

The primary role of the Mudgeeraba Light Horse Museum Inc. is to collect, preserve, make accessible and display objects, photographs, memorabilia, information and documents of significance to the origins, traditions, connections and history of the Australian Light Horse, its predecessors and successors. To demonstrate the unique and legendary military skills, feats of endurance, courage and mateship that epitomises Australian Light Horsemen and the Waler horses that carried them into battle, the Troop takes part at ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day ceremonies, exhibitions and tent pegging and other military skill spectacles. The soldiers of the Light Horse regiments and their horses are recognised as an important part of Australian military history.  A new ‘Nasho’ exhibit about the Australian National Servicemen is currently under development.
